How Do I Use These Grouper Rigs?
First before you tie your mainline to the swivel on the rig you need to decide on the size of weight you are going to be using the weight will need to be put on your mainline first. Typically we recommend on using a 5oz, 6oz, 8oz egg weight. However this really depends on the depth and the current. We recommend using the lightest weight possible that will still quickly get your bait to the bottom.
Once you have decided on the size of the weight you are going to use slide the weight onto your mainline then tie your mainline to the swivel at the top of the rig.
Hook on your favorite bait and drop to the bottom and start fishing. We recommend live pinfish, frozen sardines, frozen threadfins, frozen squid, etc this will depend largely on your area you are fishing.
PRO TIP - We recommend using braided line with a mono top shot. The braid is going to give you the most amount of sensitivity and have less of a belly in the line in deep water compared to using straight monofilament. The topshot works like a bungee cord. Braid has zero stretch so the small section of mono is going to give some forgiveness with the stretch it provides. The mono top shot also gives you extra abrasion resistances from rocks, ledges, and wrecks.
